Day 23: When Zombies Attack

Wakeup wasn't until 7:30 today. I woke up about 5 times before that expecting someone to be yelling to hurry up and get our biking stuff ready. Today was the big day. We knew we were to be zombies later, and that the entire day would be one big acting lesson. After breakfast, we all split up and went to stations like horseback riding, music, arts and crafts, fishing, and the rock wall. There weren't a ton of clients going around, but we got a lot of time to talk to the counselors about what they do, and it was extremely interesting to hear about how difficult it is to work at a camp like this. They only make about 200 dollars per week and get about 2-3 hours of sleep per night depending on the clients that they're with.

After the stations and lunch we got on our zombie makeup and costumes and started getting our zombie on. I don't really know what else to call it, so that's what I'll work with. We got our zombie on while the campers were eating and got on the roof to bang on the skylights and zombied around the entire campus. The campers finished eating and began going into zombie prevention mode. The only way they could stop us from getting to them was by dancing. If they danced, we had to pretend to hate it and turn away or play dead. We continued the act for a while and later put on a zombie survival kit show. We set up stations like "How to Walk and Talk Like a Zombie," "Sword Fighting," and "Target Practice."

We had dinner and then called it quits for the night. It was a busy day, and tomorrow is filled with a lot of programming. Tomorrow we ride Lookout Mountain, which apparently has a reputation for danger. The past 3 years a cyclist has been sent to the E.R. after going down it. I've been assigned to ride with Dustin - one of the KRG employees who is a professional biker. It'll be difficult, but I'm up for the challenge.
